The weather couldn’t have been better for a car show!  Headed out this morning and met a couple of friends for breakfast and the made the drive over to Vilonia High School parking lot for the car show.  It wasn’t a huge car show, but they had about 40-45 cars registered.

It’s always good to go hangout at the local car shows and fellowship with your friends, and today was one of those days.  Not to mention that most of our local car shows help out local charities.

Thanks to the members of the Vilonia Car Club for hosting us today… they did a great job!

NSRA Southwest Nationals – April 6-7, 2017

Spent last weekend in Oklahoma City with some great friends at the Southwest Nationals.  It’s always nice to attend these events cause we also get to see people that we have met from other parts of the country.  And the cars are from all over… not the same 50-70 cars that we see all the time at the local events.

This year there were over 1400 cars in attendance for the weekend, most of them being on Saturday.  Some think that you have to have a street rod (pre-48) to attend an NSRA event, but that’s not entirely true.  NSRA has what I call a rolling 30 year rule.  What that means is that as long as your car is 30 years old or older, it is eligible for the events (In 2017, the car has to be a 1987 or older).

NSRA Appreciation Day – April 1, 2017

Today was the real first event that we got out to.  As some of you may know, I am also the State NSRA Inspector, a job that I really like doing.  It gets me out, gives me the chance to talk to the car owners and look over some of these awesome cars.

This years Appreciation/Safety Day was held at A&J Collision in Conway.  When we asked the owner if he would want to help with this, he jumped at the chance and we really appreciate everything he did for us.

We ended up with just over 60 cars registered and the Arkansas Safety Team inspected about half of them.  Have the majority of the team at the first Appreciation/Safety day of the year was really great.  I don’t think we have had that many of team in the same place like that in a really long time.  I really appreciate all their work today also!

We have one more Appreciation/Safety Day scheduled for April 29 in Jonesboro and I am looking forward at hanging out there too.  In the meantime, gotta make a trip to the Southwest Nationals in OK City this next week.

A Few Things That I Have Noticed — And They Frustrate Me A Little!

So I have been doing this for a while… and when I say ‘this’, I mean helping promote car shows, running this website that includes the event calendar that has other organizations or peoples events on it, and hosting events.

Here recently, there have been some things happening that just frustrate me when it comes to what I do… So here is my list!

  1. Car show flyers with no contact information – When hosting an event, you want people to get in touch with if they have questions.  I have a disclaimer on my calendar page, that tells people to contact the event organizers if they have questions.  I am not in the business of answering questions for them.  At the very least, have a phone number that people can call for information.  Remember, not all people have email, Facebook, internet access, and other technologies.  Some people like to call and talk to an actual person!
  2. Website with outdated information – If you are running a website, please keep your information up to date.  For instance, I am helping with an event in April and we have gotten phone calls, because of another website that still has last years event listed on it, and people that want to attend think it’s this years event.  If you aren’t going to update the information, then take the site down, or at the very least remove old information (but then again, it’s not being updated).
  3. Facebook Events – Please don’t create duplicate events, especially if you are not the organizer.  I have seen multiple events recently that are being created by others, when their is already an event that was created by the organizer.  You are just confusing the attendees and they won’t get the updates from the organizer.  If you run a group or page, you can share the original event and it shows up on your list of events on your FB group or page.

I could probably think of other things if i took some time, but this has been on my mind for a while and was trying to figure out how to put it.  If you are wanting to put on a car show, it is hard enough to get the word out so that people will want to attend without making it hard for people to get the information.  it also makes it tough, when there are so many car shows on the same day – see the dates on the calendar page!

Well, there it is… I feel much better after being able to say all that.   I am not saying it to offend anyone or put anyone down.  I am saying it to help us all out, because we all love this hobby, and I love what I get to do, even this technical website, interweb stuff.  It’s here to hopefully make everyone’s life easier and a way to help people promote their events.

Now, get out there and get those cars and trucks cleaned up and get ready for another Car Show and Kruzn season!

Friday Night Kruzn – May 2016

Unfortunately we had to hold Friday Night Kruzn a week early in May, but that didn’t keep you from coming out.  We ended up with almost 60 cars in the Village.  That made for a great night, with some awesome cars, and some great friends.

I just want to say thanks for all those that have supported us this past year at Friday Night Kruzn…

Here are some pictures from May’s Friday Night Kruzn!

StrayKat 500 – Dewey, OK

It has been 6 years since I have been to the StrayKat 500 and the return trip did not disappoint!

We headed out on Friday morning for the trip over and arrived in Dewey early afternoon to get registered and checked into our hotel. Once that was done, it was about time to head to downtown Dewey for the Kat Feed!  This is always a good time to just hang out, get some food, and look at some cool cars.  And in my case, get some pinstripes on the car!  More on that later.

On Saturday morning it was an early start for some breakfast and back into Dewey.  By the time Saturday, ended, they had registered just over 600 cars.  Come to find out, this was a record number of cars for the SK500.

Sunday morning, was back into Dewey for the blessing of the cars and then on the road for home.  I am so glad I got to go back to the SK500 this year, and I got to take a good friend with me that had never been before and he really enjoyed it too.  If you’ve never been to the Stray Kat, you need to start making plans to go… I am working on mine!

Mick and his crew do an awesome job putting on this show!  A big thank to them for hosting all of us for the weekend!

North Little Rock Car/Air Show – June 27, 2015

I am not playing catch up trying to get this one posted.  Had some issues with getting logged into the website the past couple of days that didn’t help matters much.  Anyways, on June 27, we headed over to the North Little Rock Airport for their Air and Car show hosted by EAA.  This was my first time at an air show, and it was pretty cool to get to see some of the airplanes that these guys build/restore.  You think that our car hobby is expensive, I don’t want to even know what it takes to build/maintain some of these planes.

It was a pretty warm day to be hanging out on the asphalt tarmac of an airport, but there was a pretty good turnout of cars, about 140 if I remember correctly.
